Sometimes I will not follow and edit a story from start to finish. This requires me to work with other editors to get the story published.
We will be separately responsible for one or more steps, from training photographers, photo selection, photo editing, and web design, to newspaper design. This usually requires me to communicate with my co-editors about the current progress of a story, what things need to be done, when they need to be done, etc.
For example, for the photo pages on the left and right, I was responsible for communicating with the designer about the selection of photos to be displayed on the photo pages and their layout. The bottom web page stories were not printed on the newspaper, so we made our own design on the web page stories. The web editions' editing includes choosing the proper order and web layout to best display the photos (Sometimes it is necessary to consider the relevance of the images to the text story and to insert them in the right place.), selecting the header title cover photos, and editing the headers on the web pages.
Whether on the web or in the newspaper, my biggest goal is to consider all photo-related issues and present the photos in the best possible way.
